Barcelona legend Lionel Messi says he will only play for boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys before the end of his career.
Messi left Newell’s for Barca at the age of 13 and his gone on to win the Ballon d’Or on five occasions with Barcelona.
In an interview with Telefe’s Polemica en el Bar in his homeland, the 29-year-old said he would love a return to his homeland and
Newell.
“I would love to return” he said. “It is
something I have kept an eye on because it was my dream as a child.
“Obviously my life started to change and went another way, but I have no regrets.
“It’s something I have kept an eye on. I want to play in Argentine football and Newell’s,where I grew up.”
Meanwhile the Argentine has returned to play for the Argentine national team just a few
months afer announcing his retirement.
He marked his return to international footballbscoring the winning goal as the Blue andbWhite stripe defeated Uruguay 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Mendoza.
